Wheelchair-Accessible Egypt Travel
Private wheelchair-accessible vans with lift, trained drivers, vetted hotels, and specialist guides. Cairo, Alexandria, Luxor, Aswan, and the Red Sea — built from scratch for wheelchair users.
Why We Built This
Egypt is one of the hardest countries in the world to travel through in a wheelchair. The pavements are uneven, the ancient sites weren't designed with access in mind, and most tour operators don't have vehicles that can carry a wheelchair properly — let alone secure it with a four-point tie-down system.
We started offering accessible tours because passengers kept asking and we kept saying no. Eventually we decided to do it properly: buy a van with a wheelchair lift, train the drivers on accessible routes, and vet every hotel for roll-in showers and grab rails rather than just "wide doors".
What you see on this page is the result. Every tour is private. Every van has a lift. Every hotel has been checked. Every guide knows which entrances work and which don't.
What Makes Our Service Different
Lift-Equipped Vans
Toyota HiAce with a rear wheelchair lift and four-point tie-down straps. The lift does the work — no need to push up a slope, and it handles heavy electric chairs that ramps can't. Fits one wheelchair user plus four seated passengers, or two wheelchair users plus two seated.
Drivers Who Know the Routes
Not just "accessible-friendly" drivers. Our team knows the side entrance at Al-Azhar, the flat path at the Pyramids, and which Nile cruise ships have a roll-in shower. That knowledge matters.
Vetted Accessible Hotels
We don't book you into a room with a wider doorway and call it accessible. Every hotel on our packages has been checked for roll-in showers, grab rails, and step-free access to restaurants and pools.
Private, Not Group
Every tour is private. Same van, same driver, same guide throughout. You set the pace. If you want to spend an extra hour at the Sphinx, you do.

Our accessible van is based in Cairo. For tours in Luxor, Aswan, or the Red Sea, we position the vehicle before your arrival — so it's the same van and same standard throughout your trip.
Cairo & Giza
The Pyramids, the Grand Egyptian Museum, Sakkara, Old Cairo, and the Citadel. Most sites have at least a partial accessible route. We know which ones work and which to skip.
Alexandria
Catacombs of Kom El Shoqafa with a genuine ramp and elevator, Bibliotheca Alexandrina (fully accessible), and the waterfront corniche. Two hours from Cairo by road.
Luxor & Aswan
Karnak, Luxor Temple, the Valley of the Kings (accessible tomb KV11), Hatshepsut, and Philae Temple. Served by our repositioned accessible van and a licensed guide.
Red Sea
Hurghada resorts with accessible pools and beach paths. Optional glass-bottom boat trips and adaptive snorkelling from a wheelchair. Different side of Egypt entirely.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does your van fit an electric wheelchair?
Yes. The Toyota HiAce has a rear wheelchair lift and four-point tie-down straps — it handles both manual and electric chairs, including heavy power chairs that can't use a ramp. Tell us the weight and dimensions when you book so we can confirm the specific vehicle. Most fit easily, but oversized chairs need a quick check.
Are the hotels actually accessible, or just "accessible-friendly"?
Actually accessible. We've vetted every hotel we book for roll-in showers, grab rails in the bathroom, step-free access to the room, and step-free access to restaurants and pools. We don't use the phrase "accessible-friendly" because it means nothing.
Can I visit the Pyramids in a wheelchair?
Yes. There's a paved route from the accessible entrance to the Panorama viewpoint, and the ground around the Sphinx is mostly flat. You can't go inside the Great Pyramid — the ascending passage is too narrow — but you can see everything from outside. Our day tour covers the accessible routes.
Do you do Luxor and Aswan?
Yes. We position the accessible van in Luxor and Aswan before your arrival, so you get the same vehicle and same standard you'd have in Cairo. Karnak, Luxor Temple, and Philae Temple all have accessible routes. The Valley of the Kings has one accessible tomb — KV11, Ramses III — with a flat ramp entrance.
How far in advance should I book?
For day tours and transfers: 7 days ahead is comfortable. For packages with hotels and a Nile cruise: 4 to 6 months, especially for the accessible cabin on the cruise ship. The cruise ship books out early. Contact us first if you're close to your travel date and we'll tell you what's available.
Do you provide a carer or travel companion?
No — we provide the vehicle, driver, and guide, but not a personal carer. If you need one, they travel with you as a passenger. If you're travelling alone and need help with transfers in and out of the van, our driver can assist with basic support, but for anything beyond that you'd need a companion.
What about toilets at the sites?
Accessible toilets are available at the Grand Egyptian Museum, the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, and most large hotels. At the older sites — the Pyramids, Sakkara, Karnak — the facilities are basic. The driver and guide plan stops around accessible facilities wherever possible.
Can you accommodate dietary requirements?
Yes. Hotels and restaurants can handle most requirements — gluten-free, vegetarian, vegan, halal. Tell us when you book and we'll flag it to each venue. For severe allergies, we'll suggest specific restaurants rather than leaving it to chance.
Not Sure Where to Start?
Tell us your travel dates, group size, and what you want to see. We'll send you a specific itinerary with a fixed price — no obligation.
