Description
Please read the port-call requirement below before booking. Port Said to Cairo is a 3.5-hour drive each way. This excursion needs a minimum 16-hour port call to work safely. Most cruise ships that berth at Port Said do not offer that. If your ship is only in port for 8–12 hours, this tour will not work. We will cancel and refund rather than risk missing your ship.
We list this product because some long-haul itineraries and repositioning cruises do overnight at Port Said, and those passengers ask for Cairo. If your ship is one of them, this is the best way to see the Pyramids and the Grand Egyptian Museum without an overnight in Cairo.
The van is a Toyota HiAce with a rear lift and four-point tie-down straps, air conditioning throughout, and comfortable seating for the long stretches.
The day, hour by hour
Leave the terminal at 6am, as soon as your ship clears. Rest stop at the Suez Canal rest area around 7:30. Arrive at the Giza Pyramids by 9:30 or 10.
Two hours at the Pyramids. Accessible entrance to the right of the ticket office, paved route to the Panorama viewpoint, parking close to the Sphinx. The Great Pyramid’s inner chambers are not accessible and we skip them.
Lunch around 12:30. Either at the GEM or at a place in Giza. Not included.
Then the Grand Egyptian Museum — about three hours. Fully accessible, ramps everywhere, elevators to every floor. The Tutankhamun galleries need 90 minutes at minimum. If you want the highlights only, two hours is enough.
We leave Cairo around 4:30. Traffic out of Giza can be slow. We aim to be back at the ship by 8pm.

Good to know
- Port call requirement: 16 hours minimum. We verify your ship’s schedule when you book. If the timing doesn’t work, we cancel and refund in full before pickup. We do not run this tour on short port calls, no exceptions.
- Bring your passport and ship card. Both are required to re-enter the port.
- Traffic between Port Said and Cairo can add 45 minutes or more in either direction on a bad day. If the return is looking tight, we cut the museum short rather than risk your ship.
- The GEM closes on the first and third Monday of some months. We confirm your date before pickup.
- Book at least 72 hours ahead if bringing an electric wheelchair.
- If you’re weighing this against the Port Said City Tour or Tanis, we’re happy to advise. For most Port Said port calls, Tanis is the better choice.
Thank you!
